Founded in 2019 by Anna Hennessey and Catrina McKneely, two mothers in San Francisco, the San Francisco Birth Circle is an inclusive group in Potrero Hill devoted to providing pregnant women, mothers and families in San Francisco with information about birth, as well as a space to discuss birth and parenting. We meet at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House (NABE) to talk and think about birth, which includes telling our stories about pregnancy and birth, looking at beautiful images of birth and mothering, making our own art about birth, and learning about free resources in San Francisco for low-income families that can help pregnant women, future parents, and parents with children of all ages. We work especially close with families in San Francisco's Potrero Hill Terrace and Annex complex. We also work with artists in San Francisco and from around the Bay Area to show group participants the power of art in preparing for birth, mothering and parenting.
